Once upon a time with Fords if a torch had to be used to repair a unit it automatically became a cat B unit. May be still that way, I retired from car hauling in 2001.

I used to haul for a Dodge dealer in NY who would buy every one of these "new" diminished value units he could find at the auction. They would always have a sheet on the passenger window with the repairs completed. Most of the time it was difficult to tell what had been repaired without looking at that sheet. I don't know if he disclosed the previous repairs to customers but knowing how he did business I seriously doubt it.
