Some questions about trucking as a career

    Hi, I've never driven a truck before and I'm thinking about getting a license for it. I have a few questions and would appreciate any help:

    a) I've heard that places like Walmart wants 3 years of trucking experience before they'll hire you. Is this true of most companies?

    b) What's the salary per first-year drivers?

    c) Could I be a team-driver in my first year?

    D) If I'd fail at trucking school, would I owe a tuition of, like, $5k? I've heard it said that $5k is generally what it costs and though they pay for it, I wonder what happens if you fail.

    You need to spend some time on the internet doing some research. There is tons of bad information and also some real good information. Start combing through the archives on this forum for starters. Educate yourself before you jump into some CDL School or Company Sponsored training program. Good luck!

    Probably make $55K - $60K your first year.
    Plenty of team jobs available for new cdl school grads.
    Can you pass a hair follicle drug test?

    Dozens of jobs for new drivers in your area.
    Do you want a private cdl school or trucking company cdl school?
    Trucking company cdl school provide transportation to get to the school, then provide meals and lodging.
    I know of 3 that pay salary or hourly while attending their schools.
    `
    This one pays $14.00 hr. while attending their cdl school and pay based on a 40 hr. week.
    Lodging is not provided, but they have some type arrangement for students to rent a room and pay out of their hourly pay. School is in Coon Rapids, MN

    Hourly pay, I think is $10.00 hr. plus free meals and lodging and transportation to the school.
    This company hauls milk from dairy farms.
