So... just south of Dallas in route to Austin my driver has a medical emergency. Long story short the ambulance takes him to the hospital while my truck and trailer along with a high value load is sitting on the shoulder of an interstate with the flashers on and abandoned. This is nearly 1000 miles from where I’m still laying in bed at 6:30am.
This particular load is on a lift gate trailer, driver assist required, and must deliver by 3pm or the load expires and is worthless.
What do you do?
Edit: it’s also Haz. Go!Brettj3876, PPDCT, Ruthless and 2 others Thank this. -

PS: I think if you have an expiring hazmat load, not getting paid for it will be the least of your problems. Disposal may not be covered by your insurance. Figure out some way to get yourself or another driver down there to get it.

Think of this as 6:30am Tuesday morning. It’s been mostly resolved but thought it may be fun to play out the scenario.
I came THIS close to posting an emergency message on TTR this morning I was so desperate. Shout out to those who already contacted me offering to help. The TTR family is legit I must say.Dino soar, PPDCT, Dale thompson and 1 other person Thank this. -
My worst nightmare. We haul live critters, and our range is just about 900 miles. I have my old Cornbinder sitting at the farm, licensed, insured, DOT’d and warmed up once a month just in case something like that happens.
We are also set up with a company that specializes in dragging trailers across the border, just in case the driver gets refused entry.
Because....
About 15 years ago, a driver got into it with the Canadian border agents at Coutts, and I ended up chartering a plane at the local airport to fly a replacement driver to the airport at Shelby. Saved the load, barely.
Those are the days that shorten your life... Curious how you dealt with this one. Anyone close enough to repower?Dino soar, PPDCT, Dale thompson and 1 other person Thank this. -
