@Dino soar, thanks for taking the time to type all that. It's my every day. Heck, it's every day for a lot of us. It should be a sticky on the O/O section here.
Lots of days I'm driving along with freight on the truck that was easy to get and pays decent and I think back on days JUST LIKE THIS. Then I think how you've got to think about averages in this game. You made a lot on the final run you got but it wasn't free! You worked your butt off for it.

Great post. And to any driver out there not appreciating folks who do load booking along with dispatching... welcome to a day in the life. This business is not easy for no one. Double shout out to the drivers who are doing this all on their own!

Honestly I can’t believe you make that many calls. I watch and learn the areas I go to and make a couple of calls. If no early bites I will just watch the board and see what stuff is maxing out at. I would rather they call me. I always bet I will get a good load from 1300-1600 hours.

If you're out of your known lanes, which happens, some days go like this. Some go like this anyway but luckily not too often for me.PPDCT, Siinman, God prefers Diesels and 2 others Thank this. -
The deepest into o/o I want to go is leasing to a company with a load board.
As a solo operator, I simply won't have any sort of leverage with brokers to keep from being screwed around.
You have my respect for going all in.Speed_Drums, God prefers Diesels and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I have also had days where I've surprised myself that I needed a load and it was right there and I picked up the phone and just that quick it was done.
But myself, if I was looking for an average load I could book that very easily.
But I am looking for the absolute highest paying loads that I can find.
Like most things in life, the very best things don't always come very easily. Sometimes you get lucky, but for the most part this is very true.Farmerbob1, Midwest Trucker and Siinman Thank this. -
Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

Dino, i had your day today. So far this week I have filled out 5 packets and I'm sitting under only my 3rd load. I have been out of my regular lanes all week and it's just gotten worse and worse. Decent money so far but today I did 2 packets with new brokers and both loads went south. Once cancelled on me because product wasn't ready and the other wanted me to wit 6 hours to get a door.
Funny thing is I sometimes go weeks without setting up with a new broker but this week I'm already up to 5.Dino soar, Farmerbob1 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I've noticed there's some agencies I just can't quite connect with.
They have good freight, it just somehow always gets messed up. Lot's of bs time on the phone, etc.
And there's some that it's like it's meant to be. Bing bang boom, booked, they always have more, are you available, blah, very little conversation.
The latter is better. I didn't make it that way, but it's just how it is.D.Tibbitt, 86scotty and Farmerbob1 Thank this.
