Truck Load Rates Halt 8 Week Slide 2.0

Hopefully everyone is doing well! It's a nice sunny, crisp & chilly morning here at home.

Interesting to get caught up on the various happenings here on this TTR thread. Glad to read that so many are still doing so well with rates and volumes, etc. It's a good thing to read when fellow owner operators are content and achieving their goals, whatever those goals may be.

I was a little hesitant to share my own numbers anymore this year, mainly because they most likely don't meet the same levels as some of the super weights on this forum are achieving. Frankly, it might be a little embarrassing, however, after I thought about it, I figured what the heck.

First off, in full disclosure, I want to state that these numbers include receipt of:
$12,000 tax-free PPP money.
$10,476 of tax-free SBA debt relief money paid by the taxpayers on my truck loan.

Now that I got that out of the way.

These numbers are NET after ALL expenses...

January through October are as follows:
$105,671 NET (not gross revenue).
59,024 all hub miles.
189 days worked ZERO HOS recaps, home almost every night. Yes, my wife's 6 course meals are delicious.
1,195 hours on-duty/driving.

Notable goal I reached this year so far is I paid off my trailer. I could write a check right now and pay off my truck if I wanted, but I will wait until the end of the year and make that decision.

I have the money set aside to pay (in full) my insurance premium and plates for 2021. As well as thousands of dollars sitting in my maintenance escrow account. I have a very low personal cost of living budget and have learned over the years it's not wise to bleed one's business profits on personal whims.

I should also say that I have enough money to even purchase a new surf board if I wanted to. However, my current one seems to be doing just fine here on my S. Oregon, 1 man, short-haul, van operation.

Yeah, home cooked meals, sleeping in my own bed and countless hours of laughing and interacting with my grandkids is PRICELESS.

 

That's correct. Which is why I said that upfront.

There are many other positives to my particular methodology. Low maintenance miles and wear and tear on my equipment is one of them. Not to mention less wear and tear on my body on the road.
