2007 Intl few issues/questions

1. What is normal max boost on this truck? Say 1500rpm in tenth, I'm seeing about 28psi. Turbo was barking a lot at full throttle. I unplugged the EGR valve, and it quit doing that, but max boost stayed the same.

2. Gear shifter clicking side to side. I'm not talking about normal drivetrain flex. If I'm loaded and give it throttle, it will "click" to the side. Enough to move the top of the shifter about 2 inches. If I let off the throttle, it will click back to the other side.

3. Grinding noise when I push in the clutch. It grinds as through the entire range of motion, from release, all the way to the tranny brake.

4. When I accelerate loaded, and the truck flexes, I hear air releasing somewhere that releases based on flex if that makes any sense.

5. Sometimes when I start the truck, the starter solenoid will engage and disengage rapidly four or five times before it "catches" and starts the truck.

Even if I'm very slow and smooth releasing the clutch, so the frame doesn't flex, the gear shifter will "click" to the side, and stay there until I let off the throttle, and then it will click back to the other side.

Yes. I figured that. I really don't want to drop the tranny yet!!!

Let me clarify: It's coming from the rear of the truck. Like flex is causing the leveling valve to dump the bags? Is that something that can/should happen when the truck is flexing? Can the axles on a Semi rotate under torque like on a pickup?

I thought that too, but I swear I read there was some relay for the thermo protection on that starter that could cause that, but I can't find that thread again.

 

Good question. I've greased it, but very little. I think I'll get my wife to give it some clutch while I grease it with the engine running, and see if I can get it to shut up.

 

Bonus question: I've got 2.75" between top of U-bolts and axle stop on my front drive, but 3 5/8 on the rear axle. Does only the front axle matter when it comes to ride height?
