I've had a lot of European cars and there is one truth on all of them, crappy factory radios. My stereo in my 780 works fine and sounds good but I don't expect it to last long.
If I were you I'd get a decent Pioneer/Alpine to replace it and be done. The Volvo amp and speakers are actually pretty good. My 780 even has an 8" sub!

Radio's have a constant "on" connection for the clock and memory. I would guess there was a short on the PC board that shorted out several of the traces and you lost the front speakers and the radio is now "on" constantly.
Lonesome, flood and Midnightrider909 Thank this. -
Long shot but the ignition switch could be going bad. I have watched some let the blower motor run with the key out or the dash will make a funky sound.

Volvo are known for electrical problems, junk it and get a decent truck. The stereos are cheap junk. Although they charge an arm and a leg for them. Common problem

I did more research and it turns out my “hit with a hammer” suggestion was incorrect.
Your truck needs a six-pack of new injectors and cups. It turns out Volvo wired the stereo ground through the injectors. Good luck.

Omg midnight, they have an internal plan obsolescence and setup to self destruct after so many miles or hours being on.
So just replace it, get one with 10,000,0000 watts and a huge woofer that shakes the trucks near you, then you will be alright.Lonesome Thanks this. -

Update:
Now only the upper rear speakers work and only for one hour at a time and then the unit shuts itself off.
