I know there is 2 sides to every story but I think you should know mine. First I will tell you what happened and why I'm no longer there. Secondly I will tell you how they screwed me out of over a thousand dollars that was promised me ...This old peterbilt I was driving/working on had a history of putting exhaust fumes into the sleeper and cab which they had fixed 2 times before and had come loose again on the way back from a trip to reno. I tried to sleep butt the fumes were too much so I decided to drive straight back. I turned south at council bluffs and was about hour and half from the yard in st. Joe and the dispatcher told me to pull over and take my break which I know was going to be a 34 hour reset. So I informed him that I was going to be in the yard in a little over and hour and they were going to have to fix several things on the truck anyway so I was going to jump in my car and go to the house and do my reset there. I decided to keep driving knowing by this time I was less than hour away so when the other dispatcher tried to call me I didn't answer the phone knowing how close I was to the yard. This must have pissed him off so he called the police , sherriff, hyway patrol on me. I was stopped 2 blocks from the yard and given the riot act/searched by the cops acted like I had a full tank of alcohol and I threatened to drive it into the federal building. It was totally uncalled for they have GPS on the truck I told them where I was going and would be there in a hour so they know where I was and where I was going . It was nothing less than a dick move by a dispatcher that had an attitude problem..so that's when I cleaned out my truck and went home where I was going anyway. Also the dispatcher had promised me that because the truck had broken down he was going to put me in a new truck plus texted me which I can show you that he says to be sure to put in 150 dollars a day for the week it was broke down . After 4th of july weekend I was informed that because they had just sunk 7000 dollars in a rearend they needed to recoup that money so after I cleaned out my stuff out of the truck I would have to get back in it . Not only that but without being told anything they had cut the motor back on the weekend of the fourth so now instead of going 79mph it would only do 73mph now. I thought that was a double slap in my face so after that then this happened you can understand why I didn't try to ask for my job back...it was good riddance..So after this I barely got my money back on the 4 days of hotels but would not honour their word on the breakdown pay. My suggestion is to watch your back with this place. And whatever you do ...don't expect them to be honest with you or your pay....

Meh, you got off pretty light. Hang around here and read all of the complaining from the pilgrims that fell for the old "Fleece Purchase" scam, some fall for it 2 or 3 times before it finally sinks in.
FWIW, I wouldn't have stopped an hour away from my house either (I park 5 minutes from my house, local driver). -
And I think there is a certain person (paging @TB John ) who ain't gonna like them disparaging words about leasing.....Frank Speak, mjd4277 and TB John Thank this. -
Let them disparage all they want! A select few know the truth, and the truth will set you free!! Hallelujah!!
Frank Speak, Dale thompson and Lonesome Thank this. -
Buy yourself a truck, get your authority and call the shots.
If you want to go over hours in your own vehicle or drive 79mph that's your prerogative. Your authority, truck, insurance and business.
You knew what the hours of service were and what the route you were driving was. As an adult and a professional driver you had the option to park the truck. You made the choice to continue driving beyond your hours and you're dealing with the consequences.
If the exhaust leak was your reasoning for not pulling off to sleep, you need to familiarize yourself with a 9/16 wrench. In a few minutes you could have loosened up a band clamp and thrown some tin foil from an old burrito in it and tightened it back down.
In my opinion this is a perfect example of somebody not accepting responsibility for their actions.
It sucks that you were turned in by your company but it's due to the choice that you made. The company stood to lose more than you and they clearly weren't okay with that risk.
Get your own truck and authority, it would prevent the need to blame anyone else in this situation.bzinger, D.Tibbitt, dunchues and 1 other person Thank this. -
