No, no and even more no.
Never had to cut a housing to install a diff. Somethings not right.......Itsbrokeagain and Klleetrucking Thank this. -
@Goodysnap i installed a locking diff in my rear axle, did not have one before and I had to clearance the housing just like he show in the picture. Would not have been able to get the center section in without doing so. I can't remember but might have even needed the clearance to operate. The extra room was for the sliding locker gear or whatever you would call that.
I used a grinder, took me probably an hour. Guess I could have used the torchspsauerland and Goodysnap Thank this. -
to get that slider to clear is why it needs cut out. @Goodysnap my locker seems to be not functioning exactly right, acts like the gears are not fully engaging and I can feel it lock and then slip and lock again. Its only about a year old and I've tried to be easy on it when using. Only in low traction situations. Any ideas?
Goodysnap Thanks this. -
Ahhh.....Never would of thought of that.
More clarification from the OP would have made that much easier to understand if thats the case.
If he needs to ask how to do it. He probably shouldnt be.......wore out and spsauerland Thank this. -
wore out, spsauerland and lester Thank this.

First check would put pressure gauge teed @ locker cylinder and see if getting full air.

It’s a locking diff that this truck never had. It’s required to get it in -
I was thinking a grinder. Just wanted to see if anyone that has done it before had any suggestions
