I'll be the first to tell you man, burn out is real. When you burn out in this industry, it's like time sits still man. A 450 mile run can feel like 800 miles.

you were on the board a lot longer than me, I know ill have to go back eventually, but yea that Memphis turn at 600 miles was the longest I've ran since june haha. It was nice to get a change of pace, its awesome to get home daily tho and that's what important to me right now

I took a 2600 mile bid for the winter, but I’m still trying to break 3500 miles in a week before it starts. It seems like every time I score a weekend run, it happens after a week where I had one day with no run.

That's why I just stay out and run, xtraboard. No waiting around the yard for your assigned run load to be ready. Worse to be cut. No, as xtraboard, they are going to get you out of that hotel to pay for the room. You get your load before you leave the hotel. May even take away your assigned run and give it to us. I run 6 days a week, 7th day off for reset in hotel. Average about 3500 miles a week.

I'm not going to lie, I miss it so much. I ran all weekend to get the feel back. Could've easily ran 3500+ but I settled for 3300. With my run, it guarantees 2100 miles and I got the weekend to run another 1200+. I'll never run out of time because my run is so short.

That’s the downside of running extraboard at a company that doesn’t have those drivers run wild all week. I’m at home, so if they don’t have any work for me, it doesn’t cost them anything.

    Muskie and LtlAnonymous Thank this.

I’m curious as to what a “lead” local driver position entails? My local Estes terminal has an opening posted for this position. No mention of duties (or pay for that matter) outside those normal of a driver
