Last week in Colorado Springs I caught a red light right on US 24 right before you get on I-25. I saw an older lady stop her car, get out, jump a jersey barrier and cross three lanes of oncoming traffic to check on a cart that someone had abandoned on the sidewalk on the other side of the highway. Then she scooted back across those same three lanes of traffic, jumped the barrier again, got in her car and drove away. The rest of us missed the light. I couldn't figure out what the heck she was doing, but then I figured that maybe in her heated imagination she thought there might be a baby in that cart. (It didn't look like a baby carriage to me, but what do I know.)

Buy a cell phone. If it isn't an injured human being, call the cops and keep driving. Please.
