Hey guys, tell me if this is petty or not -

Receiver was unloading me, and it was pretty obvious he'd never seen a telehandler in his life. He broke one of my pieces of dunnage in half. Do you charge for it? If so, broker or receiver?

Anyways, I told the broker I needed $24.00. They weren't answering the text, so I called. They basically told me to get bent. So I asked if they were telling me to go after their customer? Guy on the phone really didn't care one way or another. So I stopped the receiver, and told him I needed someone to pay for my busted board before we continued unloading. He said it was because it was improperly loaded. I said, the guy that loaded it didn't have a problem, and the board wouldn't be broke in half if you had stopped when I yelled stop. At that point, he "didn't want to argue about it", and agreed to pay up.

I know it's only twenty four bucks, but do you just suck it up (it is just a piece of wood), or do you take a stand(because after all, it's your wood)? Curious to know what the pros do. Thanks.

Edit: I guess my question is, do you get worked up over something like this, or is it just part of being a flatbedder?

I’m probably not going to make a big stink about getting paid for it. I’ll likely be a bit of a dick to the unloader if it was his fault.

If it was his fault, I'd make them give you 2 of their good pieces of dunnage and call it good.
If drivers don't call them out for #### like this, they never learn.

They didn't have any. It was a gated community, and he was just dumping the bundles on the ground for some project. You can check it out, if you want. 3500 Oakgate Dr, San Antonio TX. I had to pull across Vance Jackson, and blindside through a gate.
