    Ok I re-read your post think you should check into it, first off I don't think you can lease a truck without authority insurance and a trucking co.if you lease to your boss's co now you have a business lots of numbers to keep up with,but theorileticly you a owner operator you just lease the truck

    Who's responsible for the, 2290,ifta. Filing license plate, permits, fuel taxes, road use taxes if you are not ready for this and a few other things keep it simple, remember KISS keep it simple stupid, best of luck to you in all your adventures

    Having your own truck is a lifestyle commitment. It's 24/7 when you figure in all the planning and extra responsibility you have.
    Weigh the rewards, such as they are, against the amount of time and effort you'll be putting in.
    If you like driving and have a decent job you're already way ahead of the game.
    There's a lot of freedom to rolling up the window, slamming the door, and just walking away from that truck at the end of the day with all the regulatory and maintenance issues taken care of by somebody else.

    Don't do it. After reading your post, I don't think you'll be happy with all the extra time and responsibility that comes with it for about the same as a company guy who gets to walk away and literally forget about it on his time off.

    When you lease a truck, you’re responsible for repairs! It’s still yours! Same as when you lease a car, you must maintain the vehicle, leasing doesn’t avoid these cost

    If things get slow or your truck sits in a shop you still gotta make that weekly lease payment. And like others have said, you have to pay for tires and repairs. Less home time too cause you gotta be out there chasing the miles. I leased for two years and then switched over to company driver.

    This penski has a maintenance plan attached. I had an over pressure warning light that turned into a dead def pump in 2 days. I was hundreds of miles from home where my boss/mechanic is but pulled into a penski location and was rolling out in 5 hours. That was the whole point with boss taking these trucks on because the home trucks he repairs but mine goes thousands of miles away for weeks at a time. I was told if it can't be rolling in 24 hours I'd be given a loaner to finish my load

    Right this is exactly what I Do Not want to do. That's my definition of OO. My ex and ran a small business. I worked for a friend 5 years doing his paperwork for payroll, quarterly filings etc etc. NOPE. I'm currently committed to a large renovation project leading to a rental situation. The Reno is a big deal. The rental is a f ton of learning paperwork and laws etc... I do not now, nor in the next 5-10 years, have time to do more than drive a truck. I can drive this truck (well...most days LOL) and that's all I've got the brainspace I can devote to this...
