Working Show Truck & Trailer, no airlines?

Twice I've seen this in recent weeks. Parked at a truck stop and today backing in at grocery warehouse. The truck is a stretched out (like they do out West) Pete 377, lowered, and 48 foot split axle reefer with matching paint. However.in the vast area between back of cab and front of trailer there are no airlines or electrical cable. On the truck &btrailer where you would expect to see those lines connected there are the standard fittings but those fitting are empty. Nothing is connecred to them. I looked moderately carefully to see if there were hidden air lines and a pigtail but didn't see anything.

He came in with his lights off and I didn't see him use 4-ways while backing. Can you connect air & electrical in a hidden way if you always pull your own trailer? Is no air/electrical lines a thing to make your truck look cool?

Yes look under the trailer next time. They hook up like a tag trailer.

They look cool, and nobody can try to hassle you about them dragging the catwalk. There's probably other reasons too, but looking cool is a good enough reason by itself.

Confuses the hell out of anyone that has to put a glad hand lock on too....

edit: I have quick connect fittings on mine so if I have to pull someone else’s trailer I can put the lines back up top, I also have shut off valves on the trailer so I can pull my trailer with my uncles truck or such that doesn’t have air to the back

    Winter weather isn't a problem?
Guessing it could be a PIA when covered with frozen slush, snow and other winter nasties?
