on 385 where i have been driving recently, just after the intersection where i turn onto 64 there is a weigh station (one where they set up portables) about a mile down the road. there isn't any signs for the station untill you pass the intersection. I have heard that if you are within 5 miles of an open station, you need to go there? but im still not sure, and i know its only a matter of time untill it is open, but i could sure use some wisdom on some of the specifics in this situation.

how bout that one on I95 south coming out of Balitmore toward DC when you get to the I495 West split...they want everyone to exit and scale out but I always go down the 95s\495 east side and have never went into that scale...I know many other have also done the same...it seems out of route to me...

That is a cluster. You take that scale and drive around a circle.. some guys keep driving around it... then they say to heck with it and head back out... by that time they forgot which way to get out.. go do a flip and there is the scale again...:biggrin_2559:

the guy asked a question and as usual everybody posts something that is completely off subject. to answer your question, you do not legally have to cross a scale unless it is in your route. a trooper can stop you and take you to the scale if he chooses to do so. if the scale is after your turn off and there is no sign that says you have to cross before exiting, you are safe to exit.

<scratching head>... makes me wonder about some of the drivers out there on the road wandering aimlessly looking for a scale within five miles of their current location?!? Bubba, no wonder they get so many sarcastic answers. Have you really read some of these questions? Honestly, having in my past been a multiple truck owner, who hired team drivers to drive my equipment, I would sh** if one of them called and asked me that. It is better to sit in silence and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

You should really stop listening to CB lawyers and CB DOT officers! :biggrin_2559:

You do not have to go out of your way to go through a scale.
