I'm surprised the stations will let you bring in oil in a trailer that just hauled water. I would be afraid that switching from water to oil would cause the LACT to shut off. I guess you drain your trailer really well.

Down here in Texas crude gets hauled in 407-spec trailers and water gets hauled in vacuum trailers; I assume the same is true for ND.

OTOH, the thought of hauling water in a 407 trailer sounds very appealing because that means no service work. :)

I think those stainless steel trailers back in the 80s are better than the ones today. I bought one a year ago and replaced the suspension and spoke wheels it’s been great. Just did the the vik on it

I guess our disposals are a little different. When you bring a load in it will automatically measure the water and oil content and separate it so you get paid properly.

Another thing is, we don't "buy" the oil - we nearly just transport it and the place we drop it off to cuts a check to the oil company directly for whatever we haul there.

When we do have to take 100% oil to the pipeline ( where they only take oil ) we usually just open everything up and drain whatever is in our tank into a bucket so we are 100% empty before we load the oil.

Lastly, I still do service work....hahah, my pump still makes mad suck!...just not vaccum suck...lol

We always called it "buying oil" when we went up and worked the tank. Technically we weren't "buying" it, but we were certifying to our best knowledge the gravity, volume, and quality of the oil we were pulling from the sales valve.

We used to do it all the time when I started oil in 09. Haul a load to Enbridge in Alexander, run to Tioga, haul a couple loads of water for Hess, drain out real good, then to Parshall to load oil again for the next morning.

Hmm, the reason my boss won’t get into oil again is because he had to buy it each time they picked it up....

He could be wrong, I don’t really like oil so I never really looked further into it.

Usually the marketing company that you're hauling for is the purchaser. Hell, maybe I'm wrong!

And I loved hauling oil. Especially in Belle Lake north of Sentinel Butte. Nobody but you, the birds, and the jackrabbits carrying lunch pails.
