After reviewing the details, we ordered and installed the Geowiz eld that uses geofencing to deal with the agricultural exemption, including on international shipments. The concept is absolutely fabulous. The ELD is claimed to automatically switch from off duty to driving when reaching the 150 mile exemption limit, and automatically apply Canadian rules when crossing the border.
In practice, the Geowiz system is essentially un usable. When using the ELD, there were more than a dozen "unassigned driving events" which need to be manually dealt with every day. Needless to say, that's not going to fly. There were consistent differences between the driver's graph data (line 1 through 4), and the hours listed (i.e. the graph would show four hours driving, and the numbers would show a different number of hours driving).
On the office side, the interface is clunky. It doesn't calculate the daily miles, and it buries the odometer readings (which were incorrect 9 out of 10 times anyway), making payroll a nightmare. The daily log printout is three pages, and only list longitude and latitude, not distance to nearest town. That makes communicating with the driver about the logs very difficult. There are no user guides on line for the administrator, everything is based on the tablet views.
As far as support, think of Geowiz as a fair weather friend. As long as everything is good, they are great. Point out a problem, and expect a very snarky email, IF you get a response at all.
Great concept, unfortunately it's unusable.
Word on the street is that Keep Trucking is working on a product with Geofencing that will deal with the same issue.

pro’s:
works flawlessly. Pops onto the drive line and off the drive line without driver input. Yay! No problems with the connection to the IPad or other technical crap. Whew!
No unassigned miles and other mystery events. Yay!
Easy to use for the driver.
Boatload of operating, bookkeeping and tracking info available to the office, with good report options. Yay!
cons:
No meshing with the Canadian rule set. Booooo!
couple of instances where “the numbers didn’t add up”, for example the mileage total for the driver was different than for the truck. However, company response was flawless, in person, with an English speaker that knew what he was doing... and fixed whatever the computer problem was very quickly. Boo -yay? Boo ya?
Not the cheapest, but has a lot of extras that other companies charge additional fees for.Dale thompson Thanks this.
