TLDR; 2018 brake pads will fit with some minor cutting.

I just had new tires put on, my technician said front pads were 20% so get new ones ordered. I did but I went for a 1700mile load before they arrived.

The original pads didn’t last through the trip. I heard the wear indicator squeal. I dropped the load I had in Salt Lake City and went to a truck stop to work on it. The front passenger side pads were toast. The driver side wasn’t much better. So I called every auto parts store within 25 miles. Nobody has the pads nor can they order them. So I called a dealership, they didn’t have the pads.

At this point I’m kind of lost but I found the inner shadetree mechanic in me and took the old pads (walked by the way, truck has no brakes since I took them off) up to Autozone even knowing they didn’t have replacements. I asked the front counter guy to bring some 2018 pads up so I could compare. They were the same size, shape and everything. The only difference is the 2018 pads needed a small notch cut out of the end of them where the pad mounts into its place. The cut was about 0.5”x0.5”. I don’t carry an angle grinder in the truck, so I had to walk to the hardware store and buy one. Walked back to the truck stop, started cutting the new pads to fit, got them fitted up all good, perfect fit after I notched them out.

HOWEVER, I forgot that you must push the brake pistons back into their original setting and I usually do this with a large c-clamp and the old pad, but I don’t carry a c-clamp in the truck either. SO I WALKED back to the hardware store and got the clamps.

    6 miles of walking/jogging. Check
Lost control of the angle grinder and cut my finger. Check
    Replaced my brake pads. Check

I forgot to mention, I do carry my bike with me, but the MF had a flat on the front. That is why I walked.

A while back someone posted on the facebook hotshot groups that the 2013-2014 Ford F-350 brake pads part number 8909-D1680 PG or PGD1680M will fit the 2019-2020 Ram 3500.

    Wish someone could verify this.

If I can't verify it by the time my pads are done that's exactly what I'll do.
