nOW as far as Oak Harbor:
i don't know. They seem ok. Hell, they've been around for 104 years so they must be doing something right? The overall atmosphere of the website seems positive and honest and not much corporate bs which is a plus.

Also the best companies seem to be in the northwest run by decent people and the overall atmosphere seems in line with that.

    One minus is volvo though.

So, i'd give them a tentative plus.

Oak Harbor was o.k. - then the kids took over and their lawyer friend gutted the union (Teamsters). Haven't renewed their contract in about a decade. Scrapped the health plan and the retirement. The courts said it was legal to scrap the retirement but not the health plan. OH asked for an extension to appeal to the Supreme Court, District Court hasn't ruled on the extension so everything is in limbo.

Pay is o.k. there BUT you will be asked to pull trailers without weighing them first (they have several yards and drop lots without scales). OH will reimburse you for the overweight/overweight on axle tickets if you can't scale BUT you'll have the tickets on your MVR. It could be problem finding another employer with >6 overweight tickets if you decide to leave.

So... you refuse to pull the trailer, they excrement-can you and you'd have a legitimate Coercion case, right?

Oak Harbor wasn't that bad, the only reason I left was because they don't have terminals in Arizona or else I would have tried to do a transfer, they interline with a company called Central Arizona Freight Lines to handle their Arizona freight , its been discussed for years even when I worked for them, that eventually they do want to expand into Arizona and Utah, but nothing as of yet, and that was 5 years ago, if you are P&D they pay overtime after 8 hours, on the linehaul side they pay mileage, but also pay drop and hooks, pretrip, fuel and 15 minute breaks as well, they are still a little lower on pay than others, I think they may be around the low to mid 60s on CPM right now, I would have to ask some of the guys that still work there to find out, when I was there they did install cameras in the trucks and ran them for one year, the company decided they didn't like them and were removing the cameras around the time I left the company, overall I liked working for them, they were pretty cool, they were not perfect but it certainly wasn't hell either, for the most part they were good about buying new trucks and keeping the fleet newer, they were also investing in new trailers but still had alot of old former CF trailers they were using, alot of the dollies were old also and heavy.

Oak Harbor is a decent outfit. I’d go here over Central or possibly Reddaway. They are union where I’m at. A portion of the LTL carriers in this part of the NW are. Oak Harbor, Peninsula, Reddaway/YRC, ABF...

    2020 W-2's POSTED:

Haven't really done that many inside deliveries. The last one i remember was a few weeks ago and it was like 10 boxes of paper. Not a big deal. i don't really use my handtruck except for residentials and even not that much for that.

We are still wrecking freight and not giving a crap about the customer, especially residentials, although i try to do my part to treat a residential as any other stop.

Anyways, the end totals are still lame and i, again, apologize for that; i will try to do better next year. However, i did break 100K per year for the first time, which done during COVID no less, is not bad.

i will be winding down the second, mail-gig asap; i did this in order to pay off the truck asap, and we're almost done with that.

The Shadow, McUzi and jmz Thank this.

That "LAF" pay rate is a dreamboat compared to working 3-4 weeks out on foodgrade where I'm at right now. Those poor fools stuck on grocery warehouse reefer you would think would seemingly jump ship immediately at their injustice. That said, better pay is always out there for one's goals on the LTL/Linehaul side of things.

But in my case, am I ready to relocate to an area where the jobs are as plentiful as brain dead, 20 somethings? Guess I may have to bite that bullet and take a dive into the unknown.
