They don't get 5 packs because they don't want to pay CDL wages to their drivers at the CARMAX. Plus this set up is more versatile and less chances of getting scratches on the the units on top level.

Ugh! I drove 47000 miles in the last 6 months, I’m home every night, and I have weekends off. I made more in that 6 months than I did at May where I drove 60000 miles over 5.5 months where I only got 4 days off.

I’ll take “lower” than class “a” CDL any day.

There was a brand new 5 pack Pete at one of the dealers on i75 in GA a while back.

If going that route why not one of the 4 car roll backs?

    Probably a lot more usable

I considered those but a lot more hydraulics and stuff to maintain. I don't want a car above the cab.
I work with brokers that demand over the wheel straps. No basket straps or chassis chains. No way they would let me tow a unit with a wheel lift either.

Also i want an extended cab cause I still go far enough to have to sleep in the truck at least every other night. I'll lose 2 feet but as long as I can take a small unit ontop and a sprinter on the bottom ill be set.
I want to build that upfit on a truck like this and add a bumper pull hitch for the ocasional rv/trailer transport:

Yeah, the over the wheel straps are an issue I deal with as well. I've lost several loads that they required them. They are always shipping sprinters and promasters down here by me but they require the OWS's and I don't have a way to do them on my current trailer and I'm still trying to sort out a replacement, now that I have my 550 on the road.

Out of curiosity.. Do you think the brokers that require OWS would consider these ok or are they 100% just wanting the 3 point strap overs?

edit.. on the bumper pull & RV hitch.. you might want to double-check that, because if you go with that sort of truck where it's not a tractor combination you might be limited to the 65ft rule. I'm not 100% but I think you might run into an issue there on the 65ft rule because your that style truck won't be registered as a tractor so might be 65ft length limited. You'd have to stick to short trailers but I guess if they are bumper pulls probably wouldn't be super long ones anyway.

They call those basket straps or something. They don't accept those either. 3 Point straps is wahat they are looking for. Before they let me sign up they requested a picture of a full load all strapped with the 3 point straps. You can install E tracks and use those for over the wheel straps if you want.

Yea I am aware of the 65 ft rule. I guess I can tow 18 footers or something.

Yea I was looking at the e-track option but the e-track 3 point straps I saw were only rated for 3k lbs so at best you can only get 6k lbs securement each direction. If I'm not mistaken aren't some of those sprinters over 6k lbs?
