    with a 4 axle tractor and 53ft, 4 axle dry van what is the max gvwr? and are you able to haul that weight on interstates without a permit?

    Going to depend on the state. Some states you can run over 80k on the interstate with a permit some states you can't

    so there's really no point in running a 4 axle trailer and a drop on the tractor over the road if you're still limited to the same amount in certain places?

    Correct. Some regions it might make sense but they are not all the same

    A “maxi” configuration is most useful in the PNW, but would be illegal, for example, in Cali, even empty. I can’t even get my tri axle KPRA legal for Cali.
