Have a good 3406b with recent inframe in a t600. Wanting to put that in western star with 3406e. How would one go about getting the gauges and all working? Any help on the swap is appreciated

I put a Cummins big cam in my 95 Freightliner in place of the electronic series 60.

    Too much to list.

You can p.m. me with questions if you like.

Most of the gauges are mechanical speedo and tack is the only problem

Speedo would be off the trans. I think tack would be the only one that would be different. Everything else is mechanical I think. And tack wouldn't be hard

Hanging throttle pedal and linkage will be harder than gauges. Need a donor truck.

Get a mechanical tach and speedo for the Star. They are the same size as the electronic ones and will fit right in the dash. Hook up the cables to the engine and trans and route them out thru the firewall the same way they would have been on the older ones.

The speedo you have in the Star now should work as long as you use the same pickup sensor and drive that is on the trans in the truck now. If you change trans. Remove and reuse its drive and sensor.

If he has the “Heritage” cab any White, Autocar, or Diamond Reo with the same “Drivers/Corporate” cab will work as a donor. Pedals may not have the WesternStar logo but they should be the same layout.

Most of the fuel peddles are simple floor mounted like old Kw’s and pete’s. The linkage however could be a little over engineered and sometimes mickey mouse on some of them. The linkage goes through the floor and has a z-bar mounted on the outside of firewall connected to a straight rod to the pump. More parts than necessary imo.

Oil pressure gauge should be manual in both rigs. Be sure to use the sending units from the truck you are putting the motor in, that will insure the gauges read accurate. The speedo comes off the trans. The tach is read off a speed sensor that reads off the flywheel most likely, the B should have a place for that to screw right into. As said earlier getting a throttle pedal is going to be the hard part......

I'm a B model guy to the core, that said I would fix the E if possible they are a way better platform
