You should have informed them that you are parked on the fuel island. They would have done a full cleaning.

You should have taken a shower 45+ years ago in a truck stop. Usually it was a spot off to the side of the restroom with a shower head and a curtain. Almost always hair and grime all over the floor. Guys were just tough back then.

Also, it kept the immune system in good shape. Today, no one has the ability to fight infections. Too many antibiotics.

    Protip:

TA and Petro towels work great for wiping down your truck and the chrome after a truck wash. They're soft and absorbent.

I buy hand towels and put them in the side box in a bag after every use

Always have plenty of fresh towels to use as I bought about 25 of them.

If you can’t thoroughly dry off with one you need to start skipping a few roller dogs

Everyone has their standards and I respect the OP for sticking to his standards. That said, here's my opinion on the shower issue:

The towels are washed after each use and are therefore clean. I don't see what the problem is? Aren't these truck stops using some kind of industrial grade detergent that kills most of the germs?

As far as shower cleanliness, it would be nice if the shower could get scrubbed with soap and water, and then thoroughly sanitized after each use. However, most truck stops do not give their staff the labor to do that after each and every single use. If they can get the shower looking decent, I'm happy.

Back in the old days the original teamsters driving a forty mule team only took a bath in the spring time.
I bet they didn't worry about the towels.

I'm more concerned with what goes in the kitchen area than the shower......In the shower wear your flip-flops, soap and rinse, no need to touch the walls etc. Don't put your clothes on the toilet.

I never said anything about Hilton standards. A quick 10 seconds with a toliet bowl brush works wonders.
