I back into some very dark docks and I'm looking for examples of where to mount a light on the side of my cab that will light up along the side of the trailer. I hooked up a bright LED lamp on the back of the cab and spliced into the work lights - that helps hooking up the lines in the dark.

I can put one right into the side of the cab but the light it casts gets blocked by the trailer - need to extend a little bit further out. I thought about mounting to the bottom of the mirror but that would blind me while trying to back up.

If you have one can you snap a picture or provide a source?

Have you tried just placing a small flash light at the dock or on the ground on the lines where your trailer needs to be?. then you can look back into the dark and see exactly where you need to be. Much easier than trying lights on the trailers that cause distracting shadows and still can't see anything

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best...I'll try this. Found this light that might do the trick

I use this, I unload and load in the dark a lot, rechargeable in the truck and magnetic base, works great

I have two of those from Harbor Freight. Yours looks better quality though. I'd go with yours.

You don't really want a lot of light back there. The beauty of the little flashlights is that they don't blind you in the process. You can place the light on the dock bumper or ledge and that's all you need to see. Good Luck

Oh yeah, I should've said that. I've had the HF ones too. This isn't even in the same league. This little light is really great quality. Strong magnet, long battery life, h/m/l settings, etc.

    Chinatown Thanks this.
