Hey guys had a number 5 injector go so when I pulled them we didn’t know the history of how long they were in so I replaced them all. Now on start up my truck at idle smokes black a lot more then before. My truck is turned up slightly the write way at about 26 psi. Is this just the new injectors causing this. Or a combo of new injectors and it being turned up a bit.

I love hearing how great and wonderful Cat parts are that are brand new. I wish I had a Mack -
Injectors meaning plungers and barrels in the injection pump? or injector nozzle in the cylinder head?
mtoo and jamespmack Thank this. -
What’s stopping you?6wheeler Thanks this. -

Fuel nozzles for the mechanical cat need the correct nozzle and the correct spacing to focus the fuel spray. The spacing is set with certain thickness sealing washer for the arrangement number of the engine.
spsauerland and swaan Thank this. -
If the rack isnt pinned in the pump on # 1 tdc and you set the plunger in the pump and miss alignment by just one tooth in the rack the engine will run but smoke to no end on an idle and skip terribly about 1200 to 1500 rpm

Cat 3406e breaks down while I'm sleeping every week. When I rebuild the Mack the Peterbilt with the Cat is going up for sale -
There’s no skip. It runs good. Sorry fuel nozzles. Just used to electronic and saying other. I’ll try get a video tomorrow morning. It’s not bellowing black but smoking black on idle a fair bit. Where as before it barley had any smoke on idle.
