Not me. Finished the week with 1700 miles on Thursday morning. Put up my Christmas lights today, plan on doing absolutely nothing the next two days. New bid starts Monday and I’m expecting consistent 12 hour days unless my run gets cut.

Doing 12 ounce curls myself. It was posted that they had Saturday runs available. I could use the extra hours but my wife already booked us a trip to the local zoo.

I used to be a weekend scavenger until for the last four runs, a guy with more seniority than me booted me from the run only to never show up. This was overflow freight from my weekly route. Drop and hook. He ended up screwing me not only on my weekends, but also the overflow I had to deal with when I came in Monday.

Might as well get my OT during my workweek rather than slashing a day off. C'est la vie.

So, let me get this straight.

This guy would agree to a Saturday run, not show up at the last minute, and then they'd start calling you at 8-9 AM to do a run you would've just soon started at 4:00 AM had they given it to you to begin with?

If that's the case I'd be pretty disgusted. :biggrin_25510:

Runs where you meet another driver and swap doubles sets.

Be careful with those runs. You could find yourself constantly inheriting someone else’s problem, especially when it’s you who has to cross the scales instead of the other guy.

    Yeah.

So I would usually do my Saturday drop and hook turn at my ten. Absolute worse case scenario is me coming back Friday night at 7 which gives me a start time of 5 AM. It's a three hour turn but they pay us five hours minimum at $30/hour. I'd get back usually before 10 AM at the house and I still had a weekend.

I would get a call at 5 PM Friday night telling me my weekend run was canceled cause this other dude wants the hours. I shrug my shoulders and call my off duty dispatcher (wife) and she plans out our weekend.

I get a call Saturday from dispatch stating the run has reopened and I was the last vounteer at the time and the weekend dispatcher needs a butt to fill that vacant seat.

Of course I turn it down... First cause I was preoccupied or hung over from the previous night. . but then that turned out of pure principle. This dude had ZERO intention of ever showing up. He just wanted the add his name to the weekend volunteer list for kicks and giggles.
