I have a Tier2 TriPac that shows a battery fault when I try to start it. The circuit breaker is reset it does all of the prestart functions, but it does not crank the engine. I disconnected the power to the unit and checked those connections, but it still will not start. I have not taken ant panels off yet, but I am just wondering what I should be looking for when I do.

I’m not familiar with that model, but on the first gen it has a 50amp fuse in the back by the starter. They were bad to shake loose and melt the fuse holder.
I think they started using a fusible link. It may be blown.

Thank you! That's a starting point and I appreciate the opinion of those who have worked on them.

Jump power to the 8s wire from the control box see if it cranks if not then you know its battery connections or possible starter

To show my lack of experience with this critter, where is the 8s wire? I have done the maintenance on this unit, but I am unfamiliar with the wiring.

It's the the small wire that goes to the start
if you open the square control box that is probably mounted under the bunk you will see a strip terminal with wires screwed down to it. The terminals should be labelled, check it out you should see the 8s terminal. Its the starter solenoid wire,if you put 12 volts to it then it should crank over.

I opened up the panel and found the 8s wire. I had all of the buttons in the on position, just like normal and nothing happened. I did a voltage check at the control box, using the panel ground and only had 10 volts at the 2 and 2a terminals. I will remove all of the battery cables and do a draw test and see if I have a battery going bad.

If you only have 10 volts check that fuse and the holder behind the engine as the other guy said because they always corroded. If it's bad remount the new one on top of the engine so it's easy to check in future. Also check the positive terminals on the alternator as this is where it takes power from.

I will have a look at it when I get a chance. I have firewood to cut for our Trappers Association, this coming week, so the APU will have to wait. I will report on my progress.
Thank you guys for the help.
