Tesla claiming 621 mile range for its semi truck

Yeah, they're ugly but I thought I read that they have 2,000 HP. Would that mean you could pull a 45K load up a hill at 65 MPH?

 

Instead of a 20 minute fuel up.
We will be waiting in line for a 3 hour charge.

 

Over the weekend i saw a news blurb about this and the interviewee was saying the 600 mile charge would take the truck thru a drivers work schedule and then the truck would be charged while the driver was on his 10 hour rest break. BUT, he was not able to answer the question of, "who was going to pay to place the charging stations in every location" where trucks would be stopping for the driver's rest period???
I could see these trucks being used in a terminal to terminal type of application or local PU/DEL application, but irregular route applications would seem out of the question until recharging facilities are as numerous as truck parking spots.

 

Going to be interesting, for sure lots of problems they haven’t thought of yet. Gonna sit back and watch with my popcorn. But It will be decades before wide spread adoption other local, regional work. Question is where are they going to mine all the materials needed for the batteries?. Then what about recycling. I see a huge mess in the making.
