Just wait until the insurance companies require you to install a button on the rear of the trailer that requires you to get out, walk to rear of trailer, push button, before it "LETS" you put the truck in reverse!!!!

I’m sure someone would bring out the .950 JDJ rifle to plug the hole in the train horn if that was used as a back up beeper.....

Maybe they find it helpful, though I never have.
I do understand the horn thing.
It is ignorant people employed to think up new ways to annoy us under the guise of making us safer.
Such as turning off the cruise control if the wipers are turned on, even for a quick swipe.
And with my newest truck, not allowing me to increase my cruise control speed if the sensor sees anything up front.
It used to be I could control my speed downhill just by reducing the cruise speed a couple mph, then put it back up at the bottom.
Now I have to cancel it and control it manually until I can resume.
These 'safety' measures only increase distracted driving because I have less actual control on an intuitive level. -
OP do you have an APU unit in your truck or do you run reefer?
I only hear the backing up of trucks when I'm waking up in the morning anyways (the trucks themselves never wake me up). My APU unit acts as white noise and I also put in ear plugs every night. Then, if I have a reefer load then I'll have my APU + reefer unit + ear plugs, so most of the truck stop noise is always blocked out to me.
I have the noise in my truck when it's in reverse. I don't mind it. I also don't mind other drivers that have it, because before I go to sleep if there's spots beside me and I hear the beeping close enough, I'll open my curtain and watch them back in so I can blow the horn if they're getting to close to hitting me. The beeping is very useful actually.Blue Zombie Trucker Thanks this. -
Truck stop noise does not bother me in the least. Idling trucks, reefers apu's, back up alarms. Just a part of the industry. In fact, when I am at home or in a motel room, I do not sleep well at all. All of the white noise has become normal to me.

No one dislikes back up alarms more than I. I have alarm on a switch and it is off all the time unless needed, to be on a job/delivery.
However, pay attention!!! Imagine the liability, lawsuits if one backed over someone. No matter who's fault, the blame would be on me.
