So I did something that I'm not proud of today. I had a long 14 hour day, parked the truck at the yard and drove home in my car. I'm usually very calm and relaxed while driving but this guy somehow broke me.

I was in town driving the speed limit in the left lane about to turn left in less than a mile and Mr white van man starts tailgating me hard and flashing his lights. Now usually I just maintain my position but I just fycking snapped and did a light brake check on him. He tries to quickly pass me on the right lane and I floored it. He swerves left so I brake and back off,. Then I floored it again in the right lane, cut him off and made my left turn.

Such a stupid unnecessary situation. I wish I didn't lose my temper but it happened and I can only learn from this now.

I've been driving commercially for 5 years, 3 in a bus and 2 in trucking. I should know better.

Any tips from some old timers on how to not snap like I did?

Like water off a duck's back.
Move right and then get back over.
Don't let someone or something trip your anger.
He was probably in a hurry to get to the stoplight..lol

Sometimes u take life by the horns sometimes it takes you. We've all been there. Couple deep breaths relax. Do something u enjoy to do , anything to get ur mind off trucking. If i find myself getting road rage i book a load home and take a couple days off.

I smile and wave as they blow by on the right in that situation but prepare to be cut off hard.

If someone's being aggressive on you and you have the extra lane just move right and let them go.

As soon as they're past you the situation is over.

Turn on your left turn signal and slow down w/o using your brakes..if he hits you, get a good lawyer and you're set for life...you had your signal on, and were preparing to turn safely.
