I had my old dog in my truck for the last 6 Mo of her life. Dying of kidney disease my ex finally gave her back and it was good to be with her again but she was kinda too big at 60lb to get her in and out when she got really sick. She was very low energy so not a driving hazard under foot or anything.
That made me think I ought to try my new (2yrs old) pup. Horrible idea. Whined and cried and tried to crawl into my foot space while driving and sit in the way of the passengers side mirror.
If I was going to try again it would be an older rescue dog. And smaller. Maybe 10lb.

I understand what you say exactly about those busy- bodies on the west coast. Had my dog with me in a van in OlympiaLeft her for about 20 minutes with the windows 3 inches downand the shades down. Was checking out and heard over the PA System "The owner of a brown van, you need to return to your vehicle Immediately!" Get outside and there's a Libtard looking in my windows. I say "whats going on?. He says "You left your dog in the car". I tell him "Its only 70° out here,I'm parked in the shade..."Get a Life Dipit.Around this time Animal Control blocks me in! Start taking ambient air Temps. OK, I guess its not too hot,I'm just gonna take your info ,in case it happens again. Mind you, All this happened in 20 minutes.I just bought milk, eggs and er.. beverages.

Had a 70lb pit who was bored to death while driving, but loved people watching when parked. Felt cramped in the truck with him tbh

Took my golden retriever pup with me for 2 weeks and never did it again. Woke up and had a nice wet pile of diarrhea on my comforter that I discovered only after putting my hand in it before turning on my bunk light

Almost as bad as putting your bare foot down when getting out of your bunk and having it squeeze up between your toes. Lol

It was on the comforter, floor, and brake pedal. Nearly did step in it. Needless to say, yes eating a different brand of food now and stays at home with the fiance

I had my dog on the truck for years. It was one of the best things. Now he's too old and has to stay home.

We used to allow dogs but ever since a bored Lab chewed the entire headliner, most of the passenger seat, and most of the plastic on the dash of a brand new T-800 and then barfed and crapped all over everything we decided no more dogs.

Talked to a guy picking up a load at where I work (think it was SAV). He had a Frenchie. Said the doggie needed ALOT of attention. Careful what breed.

I tried but between the dog furr and my dogs need for exercise I couldn't do it . My dogs almost 15 , not sure he would have lived that long riding in my truck . I have alot to worry about out here so adding another worry is counter productive in my opinion , kudos to those that can .
