    Absolute truth.

And besides, you get paid extra for taking the overage to another location.

@ronjeremyjr , if the tank's 90% ullage is 950 gallons, don't try to drop a 1000 gallon compartment using the cheater stick to hold the flap open - that's just asking for a spill. Give dispatch the information and let them make the call. Always, always CYA.

... unless its yellow tagged. Some flappers they just won't fix so like you saw, leave the stick in and put the fitting over. Ask for a tank chart, look for the tank plates inside the basin that show capacity. Do your numbers. Overfill alarm is at 90% if calibrated correctly, most cases you got a minute left of product to drop. All of this is a big no-no by the way.

I’m in my second year but had a few run ins with this situation. My company has a few of the stations that we do down to a science but I still don’t trust nobody cause it’s me that will be blamed (NUMBER 1 trucker rule is to Cya)
With that being said if it will not fit tell them it will not fit. They can find somewhere else to take it. Get a veeder root and stick it like said above. What he’s doing is what we call putting a stick in a tank...(bypassing the flapper) it is the only thing that’ll stop the tank from over filling. If you put too much gas in your station it will start coming out through your vapor recovery line.
But I’ve had a situation where the station has 20,000 gallon tanks 90% ins still 2,000 gallons of ullage..in my instance I brought 10,000 and they had about 8,500 in the ground. The overfill alarm went off but it would definitely fit.
We have another station that me and several of drivers have written up that has a messed up flapper and will not drop unless there’s a stick in the tank .. it’s a 12k tank and the flapper got stuck 29 inches in the ground..
Then we have a marathon station with 2 tiny 5,000 gallon tanks and it’s usually split with something else.. so all of their gas usually goes in one compartment.. you can try to time it but the most consistent way to do it is to keep your finger on the fire valve and wait for the alarm to hit then switch it over.
