No I hadn't I didn't know that made one and that's close to what I'm after. I'd just have to remove a few boards to add in the punched hole stripping so that one actually might be workable.. I bet it's over $20k though isn't it.. lol

The step deck is a big higher than what I was after because I don't have a bed so it can be lower on my truck but it's probably workable and that one can probably be used on a fl60 or simular truck being it's a bit higher..

I'll give them a call just too see. thanks on that.

    edit.. oh.. yeah...

$26,820.00 for the base version of that trailer.

just saw that on their site.. heh.. I guess I'll just build one.. I mean it's nice trailer but ####... 26k? Am just like the old grandpas that say back in my day the movie theater was a Nickle? Am I getting old and out of touch with reality on pricing?

Am I really that far out of touch on prices that 20-26k is ok for a hotshot trailer? I mean don't get me wrong but I just don't see any of these newer trailers lasting long term so I have a hard time thinking these prices are reasonable.

I mean think about that.. that's 48ft $26.8k for the base trailer I don't think that was even the dovetail option The 53ft was $27.3k. The 48ft dovetail is $29.9k

It's a nice trailer but does anyone think that any of these hotshot trailers are gonna last 5 years for over-the-road hotshot the way we run them these days? I don't really beat my equipment up but it's not like these are semi-trailers that are gonna last 20-30 years or so..

Freaking hell maybe I should just go in the trailer business like the guy who sold the shovels to the gold miners....

What bout buying a container chassis, and building exactly what you want from its framework ? Or even buy an used 45/48 foot flatbed and modify it? Some of these trailers weigh less than a 40’ big Tex. I’ve owned some aluminum, steel combos, and even steel stepdeck that weigh less than some of these hotshot trailers.

scarf the axles out from under either of these, and weld in hangers for the axles that you want to be using? You can find a used container chassis for $2,500 to $3,500. Or a used flatbed for less than you’d pay for for a big Tex. And if you hunt the auctions, you’ll find a even better deal.

I’ve thought about doing this before. All I’d have to do here where I live is take the finished project and my receipts to the highway patrol and they’d reduce the weight to what I want (based on the axles I chose to use), and reassign the Vin, or give it a new one showing it as a special construction trailer.

    just some ideas.

When you say container trailers what are you referring to? I'm not quite sure what type you are talking.

Orginally I was going to modify the trailer I have now but I'd have to use super single axles and I wasnt to find on those. The other issue is my trailer is only 36ft and I need that 40ft of flat deck.

I have been watching facebook market place for used trailers to try to rebuild but haven't seen any that were good enough deals yet.

Trailers you carry containers on ! You have seen them going to the port. They are used for shipping everything on the rails and across the ocean then the are delivered to the DC center.

Yeah but are you talking a hotshot style of trailer or the semi trailers?

    Edit..

Ok I think I see what fbc is meaning. Buy it for the ibeam chassis and then stick my own 12k axles under it to lower it, then build out the deck how I want it. Might work, but It have to look one over a bit closer, I've never really paid attention to those trailers before.

Roger that, on Monday you did not know what a container was. FBC does all types of modifications to Containers and uses them and sells them I think. He has been in the Hotshot business longer than anyone I know. Anyway that is probably why he has put some thought into using a container trailer for different applications. IMO

I know what a container is I just wasn't 100% sure what trailer he was talking about.

I wasnt sure if he meant taking a hotshot container trailer (yeah they make them) or a semi trailer or if it was something else.

I did a quick look on Google to see if I could figure it out then saw some pictures of of them. So I figured he's meaning the semi trailers after that.

I looked at several pictures so far and it seems like the idea has possiblity but I'd have to get a tape measure out and do a little thinking on it.

Biggest problem I see is the overall trailer on those is 40ft with the little mini gooseneck built into it. I'd have to do a bit of playing around with designs to see if I can add a dove tail for the extra length for 3 cars. Doesn't need to be much longer tbh.
