Not sure how widespread this issue is, but as of this morning, Verizon's automatic date and time near Redding, CA, is set for MOUNTAIN time, not PACIFIC time.

The phone knows exactly where I am. It clearly indicates Redding, CA, but it is falsely saying I am in Mountain Time.

So be very careful about time for your appointments today. Make sure your phone is reporting proper time. Call your terminal for an accurate time if you are in BFE with no other option but your personal electronics to know what time it is.

A tower burned here in my town in MI. Cell service is very sketchy around here now.

As of about 0715 PST (actual PST) this issue was apparently resolved and my phone automagically updated itself to display the proper time zone for Redding, CA.

So you depend only on a single clock? And it’s on your cell phone? No built in clock in the truck? No clock on the radio in the truck? No clock on your elog and you can adjust yourself for whatever time zone you’re in?

No, I have the ELD as well, and with a data connection I can just do a 'what time is it search.'

However, I only use one device for an alarm clock. And it was wrong the other morning.

This is why I always kept my wristwatch set to my home terminal time. I was using paper logs. I really never needed an alarm clock. I just always seemed to be able to train myself to know and mentally adjust the time for appts etc off my watch. However, I can see where such an error can frustrate you!

Heh. Time zones are not a problem for me either, provided that I have an accurate time to work from. I stopped wearing a wristwatch 25 years ago when I was a steel mill mechanic. I have not worn one since. This is the first time in 25 years I have gotten a bad time and time zone from a cellphone. *shrug*

I must admit I no longer wear a wristwatch either. Stopped wearing my last one when the battery died and I just decided I no longer needed one. In my apartment, I have clocks everywhere and have a clock on my smartphone and clocks on my computer screen.
