    Can you purchase your own individual Insurance if you run under someone else's authority, but own your own truck and trailer?

    From what I understand that is fairly common. You have to be leased to them though. The party with the authority usually takes percentage around 10-15%

    The liability/cargo insurance will be in the name of the one whose authority you run under. They may or may not charge you back for it. Physical damage/comp/bobtail would be on you and in your name.

    Trying to see the best way until I get my own authority. The person I'm under now seems like every other month I find out when trying to book loads his insurance is cancelled. So then my truck has to sit until he pays the insurance, but this time the insurance company cancelled the insurance all together

    There are many reputable companies to lease on to where that kind of thing doesn't happen. Find a good one.
