Hello truckers
I was recently watching some videos on YT about trucks and i've noticed that sometimes truckers swap their trailer with another trucker, is this a common practice ? and what are the reasons to do that ? i can imagine that it can get pretty chaotic for the companies but maybe im wrong thank you for your clarification and keep on truckin'

Drivers are regulated to only so many hours of driving. If you can have two drivers swap trailers at a midway point then both drivers may return to their home terminals.
This is only one common reason of many other reasons to do listsnowlauncher, Tb0n3 and BigJohn_76 Thank this. -

how do you get the trailer "on" the truck stop?
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

We swap loads (trailers) sometimes at truck stops. Typically it's to get someone heading in the right direction for their home time. Occasionally to keep a load moving when a driver doesn't have enough time on their clock.

Bonus points if u can make as much noise as possible. Bang the 5th wheel as hard as you can and have a very loud conversation with the other driver while everybody else is trying to sleep

One more question that came to my mind, when you swap the trailer how do you know that you are not over the weigh limit i bet that there are tons of regulations about this Shouldn't the driver go to the weigh first to make sure that everything is ok ?
