What type of fuel mileage are you getting on your W990s? We're only getting 5.5 and 5.7, we only have 2 of them. Hauling van trailers from ON - South East and back every week. Light loads around 30K down, and probably 1/2 that on the way back north.

Would have expected better mileage than that for newer trucks.

Seem reasonable or a bit light on the MPG?

    Kevin.

The wheelbase will effect it too. @andrewsdad throw us a picture to see the setup, but if you guys where after MPG numbers you shoulda gotten 680’s or 880’s not the 990.

The 990 isn't exactly aerodynamic. Its probably better than a 900 but its still got a big, flat front grill.

What tires do you have? Tire rolling resistance can make a big difference in fuel mileage.

That's ridiculous. For all the modification they made to the classic W9 look for those they should be doing 7.

I don’t know much about the newer trucks, but if you using those red filters( Baldwin) that would likely be the problem

I have a 2020 W990 put in service June 2019 that has a lifetime average of 7 on the ECM with 190,000 mls on the odometer, pump to pump average for 2019 was 6.8, 2020 has not been totaled yet but should be in the same neighborhood. I do have an APU that gets plenty of usage and usually run the speed limit up to 70 mph.

When I ordered this truck I did spec it out to be economic.
Paccar MX13 455 HP multi torque 1550/1750 split
    Paccar 12 spd auto shift
    2.79 rears
    264” wheel base
I do run 445 50 22.5 super single tires, not because I believe they increase mpg’s much but the weight savings between truck and trailer allows me to scale 47,700 lbs. I live on the western slope of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and being able to scale that amount of weight sometimes helps me be able to get out of the house easier.

My previous truck was a T660 ordered with similar specs,
    Paccar MX13 445 HP 1650 torque
    Eaton 13 spd ultra shift
    3.09 rears
Same tires, I don’t remember what the ECM lifetime average was but pump to pump for the four and a half years I owned it was 6.8. The last 2 years i owned the 660 it was pulling the same trailer I pull now, 53’ flat with a Quick Draw tarp system on it. I have been pleasantly surprised by the mpg’s with my W990.

Pulling the weight you are, I would think your mpg’s would be better but there are a few things you didn’t tell us. Do the trucks have APU’s, if not that could be the reason for the mileage you’re seeing, how many miles on the units, how long is the wheel base? When were they put in service?

I would like to know the specs and when they were put in service.

I can't find the exact build sheets that we got when we got these spec'd. We didn't go with the automatic transmission, and went with a manual. I'll have to check the rear end we got in them too. Decent wheelbase as well, again not 100% sure on the exact measurements. Both trucks do have APU's though. These were put into service, around a year or so ago and both have only +/- 136000 miles. I'll have to dig into finding more specs for you.

I was able to check the idle times on the trucks for the month of November, one used 14 gallons and the other used 16 for the month. Not excessive in my mind, traffic stoppage, waiting for customs, waiting in line for fuel, and even the odd dock that would be in and out situation.

Speeds seem to average 65-70 MPH, same driving habits as they had with their old trucks before we decided to upgrade to these one.
