Did $ 72,500k for 2020, 3-4 weeks out,7-10 days home, worked out to 9 months trucking, 12 weeks off. Decent benefits, upwards percentage over time. I have done hazmat tanker, hauled 1.1 explosive, done a stint carhauling. What I like is adventure, running all 49 and Canada, awesome equipment , flexible hometime, dog friendly, picking my lanes., no micromanaging. Kivi Bros is a good fit for me. Could I make more in chemical hazmat, car hauling? Yes, but its just not all about the money for me. For a company gig, its a good fit. Im done chasing cpm, percentage doing open deck work is better pay. Im with a good team/dispatcher and run efficiently when im out. No BS, no sitting, pre-planned, rarely a 34, just keep rollin on recaps back home.

I just looked at my final check on ADP. The answer is no. I was close though. $96,995.29. I might have gotten over that mark if 1, out of us 4 drivers, one has been out on FMLA since November 1st and 2, one has been out on Covid since the second week in December. That forced me into working local which I really don't care for. I had to farm out my 350 mile runs to an O/O. The only advantage to local work is that you can be done in 5-6 hours and you are still paid for 8. Maybe next year.

And coming from a company driver standpoint, I wish I could figure out the calculation for the real amount though. Gross pay is relative to how much benefits cost. That's the real number we should be looking at. Medical and retirement can be a huge chunk out of your check.

Fortunately, I am represented by the Teamster Union. My cost for medical to cover my wife and I were $2,589.60 for the year. My union dues were $1,074.00 for the year. That seems like a small price to pay for the return on my investment.

After this week I should be around $121k. Home everyday 5 days a week, didn't work a single weekend all year.

This is what I need to make in another State to be able to move to that State. If you don't mind, can you tell me the type of work/company and what State you are in?

That’s awesome! I wish I would have pursued a career at UPS when I was younger but I figured I’d be at Coca Cola till I retired. They froze our pension so I moved on to less strenuous work pulling doubles.

Best advice for a fuel hauler right here.

Some here think it would be boring doing the same thing again and again but it's not. First you are always working on being more efficient. Secondly mistakes can have dire consequences. That helps keep you on your toes.

Other nice thing is your in and out of your truck. I'm getting back in to trucking and I'm dreading the thought of regular trucking. Back her in, wait for them to load/unload and then drive. Sounds boring.

By the way Rugerfan I like your handle.
