I've got an oil leak from under the driver's side engine cover. It's about a 4" tall, bolt on cover that runs the length of the engine behind the air compressor. Engine was covered in oil so after steam cleaning. We watched it while keeping the rpms at a driving level for a few minutes and found the seep. What's involved in changing the gasket? Is it just a cover gasket or is there more to it like orings and such under it? I think our international 4300 is a 2003 model. Thanks

Replacing the gasket requires disconnecting an oil line and two fuel lines.
The fuel return line is at the rear of the cover or high pressure rail.
Make sure and clean the area well before you take it apart. The high pressure rail supplies high pressure oil and fuel to the injectors. Cleanliness is very important.
Bolts are torqued from the center out to Going from memory 18 foot lbs. -

Just the cover gasket and the grommets for the fuel lines.
You may have to take off more than one of the fuel lines so
it might be a good idea to have six grommets for all three lines.704mover Thanks this. -
The manifold you're removing is heavier than it may appear. I've had some that required the gasket surface to be resurfaced. An automotive machine shop should be able to do that if needed. There are threaded plugs with orings on each end you'd want to remove to clean out any debris. Like Inderjit says cleanliness is extremely important
