    Hello All,

I’m in search of a tanker company near St. Louis, MO as a potential employer (company driver). I am a fairly new driver with 1-year dry van OTR experience (all endorsements). I’m looking to work for a tanker company with a good safety record, annual pay $80k +, will hire someone with only 1-year, home daily or OTR (home weekly), and is a good place to work.

Some may say the above “wants” is a unicorn - I will accept that if it is the consensus. Please feel free to share companies to avoid as well - I truly value the opinion of TTR contributors. Ideally, a few positive testimonials will be made as well.

Thank you @Chinatown for providing me with a list via PM. I am interested to see if the same companies are shared by others.

    Thank you in advance!

    Schiber in Hartford IL
Shaeffer Oil south St Louis off South Broadway
Pilot and Loves run ads every now and again in the area that I’ve seen
Wallis Oil has a facility in Pacific, MO and out in Cuba. No visible tattoos or facial hair. I applied and was called in for an interview and failed on both those fronts.
Warrenton Co. Oil has long nose red Pete’s
Huellinghoff Bros pulls bottles they are in Union MO. Really nice equipment. They do a lot of anhydrous, propane and butane.

Check out LSPI out of Bryan Tx. They have a facility in Granite City. I hauled their product to them for a few years until the rail took over. Andrews Logistics is another one in Granite City that primarily hauls lubricants. Typical tanker work weeks with both of them.....head out loaded, deliver and return. Home weekly and through the week.

You’ve done your research I can tell. Tanker yankin is far superior in every aspect when compared to van/reefer junk freight and the associated customers that come with that whole headache. Tanker companies pay significantly more and don’t try to squeeze freebies out of you nor do they act like they’re doing you an arbitrary favor by allowing you to go home. You’ll never pull another van trailer again.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will begin researching each.

Are there any factors that are isolated to the tanker industry that I should avoid/seek. For example, with over-the-road van, I have learned is that APU, power inverters, paid overnight parking allowance, address-to-address pay structure, etc. should all be considered when selecting an employer.

    Thanks!

Ask the interviewer if you'll be working nights and weekends. New guys often start out that way.
Is the starting wage just that, or are there scheduled raises?
Ask if you'll be on an assigned truck or if you'll be driving something different every shift.
These are just off the top of my head...the other guys will add more.
Who provides PPE, driver or carrier?

I learned today that LSPI has a 2-year experience requirement. I will keep them on my radar as I currently only have 1-year under belt. Thanks for the recommendation....
