Do they have a forklift at the yard, or did you have to dig the gravel in front of the trailer to get your drives low enough to get under it?

 

It was already out when I picked it up, except the mound of asphalt and dirt on the landing gear feet. Given the size of the craters in the back, they must have a towing company on speed dial.

When I spoke to breakdown after getting empty, the lady that answered said she was the one who got the call (or should I say calls, more than one driver reported it that day). She said that the driver claims that it slid off the concrete, but there isn't any real elevation change steep enough for that there. I think he just dropped it too far back and it sank after he left...just my opinion, of course.

 

My bet is that the driver barely cranked the landing gear down enough to touch, then failed to drop his airbags when he pulled out. Not hard to drag a trailer a few inches forward in that scenario, especially in a heavily cratered lot.

Since you seem to know a lot about what's going on around the company...did Crete buy the old Shoemaker truckstop property, and are they finally starting construction on the inbound inspection building they have been talking about building since I worked here last. I was in Lincoln yesterday and they have a construction fence across the drive in front of the shop, and construction vehicles in that field between the shop and the old truckstop property.

 

Yes ... Crete bought the Shoemaker property for $ 2.5 million dollars ....rumor is Tonn building a hotel and restaurant on the site

 

Anyone know the story on why these two Shoemaker truck stops were next door to each other?

I’d always heard the main truck stop was left to one brother in a will after the father died and that the excluded sibling was so pissed they opened up a truck stop next door in spite. True?
