Not related to trucking but, I was on I-5 sb one fine day in the corvette and safely doing bursts over 100 when no other vehicles were around. Drop down to normal speed when a car on horizon would appear. Suddenly there is a copper coming from other direction to meet me.. turns around in rearview mirror across the median and pulls me over. Those "patrolled by aircraft" signs are legit.
Anyway I heard the law is set up that the pilot of the aircraft has to show up in court as well, since you should see your accuser in person. And the pilots are always busy/don't show up. Took a gamble, went to court, got it tossed. Felt great

I have heard this several ways. I had a State Trooper tell me the aircrew only have to appear if the case goes to trial and you/your attorney have been granted a subpoena for them to appear. This is, in the same manner, you can get a Subpoena Duces Tecum for a cop to come to court and bring their body video, car video, radar calibration logs, in the case of an overweight situation scale calibration records etc. At the arraignment, most Judges will accept the arresting officer's statement of the facts of the case. If you have not already got the court to grant these Subpoenas beforehand, it is a rare Judge that will toss a case OR grant a delay. This is one of the dangers of appearing pro se in court.

@Moose1958 Still see the signs in your State saying "Speed Limit Enforced By Aircraft". Is that still pretty much a ruse?

I don't know. I suspect it's more of the fact you might encounter them working. Most large metro areas and almost all state police agencies use aircraft.

I'm a West Coast driver. Those pueny hills in Tennessee are disappointing. I had a good chuckle one day when I came upon one of those. Had all these menacing signs about steep downgrade ahead and mandatory break check. Yes, I stopped. But, when I got to the bottom I thought, that was it?

I'm not feeling my best this AM so I might fail at wording this correctly. I totally agree those peaks out west is dangerous. I contend though that the very reason some of these peaks back east are so deadly is what you just said. "pueny hills in Tennessee" a driver disrespects them and pays the price. I have a serious case of oldfarts and can't really remember the exact amount, but going all the way back to the 80s I can remember close to 25 drivers that paid the price for underestimating the Appalachian Mtns from the Northeast all the way down into the deep south. Some with their very lives. Don't disrespect ANY grade even these "pueny" ones back east!

There's one on I-64, or maybe its I-81, in WV that comes to mind...

The cost of the fine is nothing compared to the points.
    A clean license is freedom.
I have CDL legal even though I have not had a moving violation in over twenty five years. It only cost me twenty eight bucks a month.
Do whatever you have to in order to minimize this.

Being a reefer driver, I am almost always heavy with a gross of 75k to 79k. I respect any and all grades and always take them easy. I'm pretty big into being safe! My apologies if my post implied otherwise, it was not my intent.
