What is wrong with going out with a trainer?

If you have been out of trucking for 6 years, (since 2014), there are changes that have taken place:
    1) everything ranging from safety, traffic laws, hours of service, weights & measures, paper work, equipment and electronics inside the truck, operation of the truck itself due to changes in designs and transmissions, and very necessary procedures concerning shipping & receiving when delivering to and pulling out of shipping & receiving plants.
    2) Also, you will also need to trained in the "ways & means" your new company operates, to avoid getting into hot water, while staying fully employed.

Having a trainer inside the truck can be an absolute life saver for you.
One can never have too much training, especially in a dangerous & safety sensitive job as truck driving, along with a whole host of other dangerous & safety sensitive jobs, all throughout the U.S.A..

Good luck to you! God bless you and your entire family!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, all year round.

I was reading a past post, from 2016, that took place with you back in 2013 or 2014, as shown here: DUI question

If you are not able to get back into a truck driving job, either as an owner operator, lease purchase, or company driver, perhaps you could go to work for a trucking company working inside the warehouse, mechanics shop, or one of their offices.

    1) Another suggestion would be refinery work, loading the tankers with product, whether it be chemicals, fuel, gasoline, grain, water, milk, wine, syrup, etc..
    2) More than likely this would be consistent year round work with good pay & benefits.

Good luck to you! God bless you and your family!

Been off the road a long time; maybe find something on Craigslist that won't require riding with a trainer.
Abilene Motor Express probably hire you and may have to make a couple of trips with another driver to get caught up with Elogs and company policy.

I agree with the Craigslist option. Friend of mine was out of trucking for several years but still had his class A and got back in a truck with no trainer, just a drug test.

You can probably get the WIOA grant to pay for it since you’re on unemployment.

You probably have more experience than the trainer from the mega you may get assigned. You will be fine, driving a truck is not science. Just get back to work. Almost any trucking company that is not a mega will take you in a heartbeat. You may mis a gear on your road test but your future employer will know you been out a short time. By the time you get an hour down the road it will be like you never left. Speaking from experience from being out of truck after living overseas and jumping right back in it.

thanx for the comment my thoughts exactly on everything you said. I almost when back on the road in 2018 i found a small company , when i told the owner i was worried about not driving for a while he said "don't worry it's like riding a bike , get back in the seat you'll get it as you go down the road"
