The Detroit ddec 3 4 wiring schematic pinned at the top of this section shows the brake switch as a nc switch. Maybe you replaced the wrong switch? A scan tool should quickly verify correct switch operation.

It's a dedicated switch for the engine. Has nothing to do with the truck lights.

From what I gather, the foot switch is brake lights, the one behind the dash is for ecm....but there's another switch right next too it....I'm a bit sauced right this second, but I'm thinking that could be it. I'll post a pic if my drunk arse can figure out how

So for the third time I mention the brake foot valve. Am I wet behind the ears?

Think the foot valve switch connected to the service brakes is only for brake lights.
