Under trailer mounted aux fuel tank?

I'm considering upgrading my truck and trailer setup to a flatbed with a step deck trailer. I am sold on diamond c. I love the trailer I have now but am ready to take it to the next level with their new step deck. That will mean that I have to remove my bed, and will not have room to clear my auxiliary fuel tank. Having this extra 90 gallons on board, putting me at 138 gallons total has been more than just convenient, practically crucial. I say at least an hour a day not having two fuel at a station once if not twice a day.

I've looked at several different kinds of tanks trying to find a way to make it work and it's just not possible to clear the step deck and allow for trailer articulation with a tank on the bed of the truck. So that being said I'm considering mounting a tank between the frame rails on the trailer. Under the bed of the trailer. Does anyone have any true experience or hard literature that would recommend not doing this due to DOT regulations?

So far reading these regulations I don't see anything precluding the installation of a fuel tank under the trailer..

 

Thanks. I was thinking a standard electric fill-rite pump in a utility box plumbed to the tank, with a long hose and nozzle to reach the truck

 

Could probably mount close to the axles to save pin weight and run a hard line close to the front of the trailer with a quick connect for the nozzle hose, if wanted, or just put the hose and nozzle in a box up front.

Just need to first make sure dot won't have a legitimate issue with the tank installed under the trailer between the frame rails.

 

I haven't seen any of that could mount under the bed, on the flatbed that would give me at least 100 gallons.

I can't put anything on top of the flatbed of the truck because I intend on ordering a step deck trailer that eliminates any possibility of mounting on top of the bed. I need that room for clearance.

 

Great thank you for the comment. So tell me what you would suggest if you want to carry more fuel but you cannot carry it on the truck because the flatbed must be clear for the step deck trailer.
