It's not otr dude it's basic regional. They keep you within a 1200 mile radius to home. An average day is like any other. You call central or the terminal when your 10 is up if you don't already have a dispatch to find out what you're doing that day. (I always call before my time is up)

You go into terminal, you hook, you get paperwork and you roll. Sometimes I leave at 10, sometimes I would leave at 12, when I'm really tired, I leave whenever I feel like it. There's no rush because there's never a dispatch you can't make.

There are no 700+ mile single dispatches because you can't make it. The most you'll get, and this is if they KNOW you can run (which is why it's good to get to know central) is Dallas to OKC to STL. That's 686 miles. It can be done, but you better not stop that truck more than once.

Sounds good. But hotels are hit or miss. Some are nasty some are ok some are good.

5 out home 2 unless you wanna work is correct.

Depending where your at and who's on in central you sometimes gotta stand your ground to go home on home day. Northeast guy was bad about trying send you opposite way.

Don't listen to this lazy bum. He didn't wanna be a man and work.

Hotels are fine. Once you learn which ones are sketchy you stay wherever you want.

Are there daytime positions you can work towards with seniority? Or positions that are out and back daily or every other day?

Don't get him in trouble before he even gets hired. Big E cracking down on hotels. You can't stay at the Ritz-Carlton anymore. Your going go-to super 8 and enjoy it. Bed bug city.

Chicago I got threateded if I went to Best Western plus one more time I was getting charged.

Tell him the real reason you came off the board. Cause your lazy like me!!!!!!!!!!

Of course there are, depending on where you are located will determine how many runs that terminal has. Daytime runs are usually soaked up by the guys with the most length of service. Many of our runs are overnight tho, just the way the freight game is usually. I personally enjoy driving at night, less idiots on the road lol.

I have been nights for two years now. I like it and don’t mind it. I was just curious if there were linehaul like positions with good miles that get you home every day. Sleep in your own bed. I realize it would be something you have to put time in to get tool of course.

What hotel brands do they put you in and do you get a choice in which hotels you stay at or does Estes tell you which ones to go to? Or does Estes just tell you what particular hotel chains you can go to and then you just choose any one of the approved chains to sleep in?

Also, for every LTL driver who sleeps in a hotel at night (or has in the past), how common are bed bugs in the hotels and did you ever bring them home with you?

That's one of my biggest fears if I go LTL extra board, would be bringing home those evil bugs if I was sleeping in different hotel rooms each night. The good thing about an OTR truck is that it's yours and you are 99% likely to not bring them into the truck with you.
