My business is in Illinois. I purchased the Kentucky Weight Distance License in 2020. I filed 0 miles quarterly since I didn't travel to Kentucky. Now, do I renew the license for the new year? Does it deactivate if I won't renew it? I'm just filing quarterly reports. I don't know if I should do anything else?

As long as you file on time you don't have to do anything else.

So, I don't have to pay for renewal in addition to quarterly filings. Got it.
    Thank you

There’s no cost to get a KYU License. It’s free. Never needs renewing. Just be sure to file. I forgot file last quarter. Got a nasty gram from them, threatening to cancel my license. Honestly it’s not the first time. I filed late, 0 miles, and no operation. Surprised the didn’t hit me with any late fee. Cost was still 0.

I paid someone initially to set things up for me, so I paid someone for every account she did set up. After that, I am doing everything myself, trying to keep up. It is a lot of info when starting out. I'm happy I did hire someone initially to do the paperwork. It cost me a couple hundreds. But they still overlooked things, so I'm glad for this forum full of knowledgeble people.

I had Ooida help me get set up. It’s worth the fee sometimes to make sure you’re Legal. I’ve everything since then, keeping a list of items due dates. Recently paid to have clearing house set up.$53.00. Just didn’t want the hassle. But most of it has gotten much easier, thanks to online services. HUT, IRP, especially. No more running to pay in person at the last minute.

I agree. The clearing house took too much of my time! Even though I saved a little, it wasn't worth the pain.

Keeping a calender for all renewal dates helps alot.
Most of the paperwork is very easy compared to pre internet.
Be careful with Kentucky. If you pay late or too many days late. They will require a bond, even if you rarely report mileage.
I think I had to put a $1000.00 bond for a year because I filed late, once. This happened about 5 years ago.
Oregon was like that also. Oregon required a deposit. They wouldn't accept a bond.
Don't forget rest of the Alphabet soup.
Most government offices won't let you file in person anymore.
    Good Luck

I do have letters with pin numbers. I don't know why, but I have a few of those. I need to locate the last letter in the mix. I believe that you can get your pin number by email. Today, I will try to see how it goes.
After the start up, they were hesitant to provide me with all user names and passwords they picked since they wanted to do this stuff for me on a regular basis. I prefer to know what's going on and understand the process myself. Even though they were not happy, they did give me my info.
