The National average this week is .24 per gallon, if your company is paying you anything less, they’re ripping you off.

Atlanta trucker Thanks this.

My company currently has it at .26/mile.
So today's load is 369 miles. I get $95.94 FSC
That $95.94 gets subtracted from the Linehaul amount, then my company takes its percentage/cut from that number. Leaving me with 100% of the FSC.Last edited: Jan 7, 2021

Fuel surcharge is a crap shoot... Many of big carriers charge the customer a percentage of the rate charged to move the freight, some charge by the mile. I've never seen it by the gallon. Then you have regional ways of doing it. Everything in Alaska is done by a percentage of the rate. For instance, if I charge you $3000 to move a full load, I would charge you a 20% fuel surcharge, or $600. We get fuel surcharges by percentage even for stuff moving by ship or barge. Everybody does it that way up here. When I hire people to move stuff in the lower 48 to the docks in Seattle, I really have to be on my toes to make sure what the actual price is due to people charging fuel surcharge different ways. Some guys get sneaky on cheap rates then try to soak me on high fuel surcharges.

Quite a few of our customers use a fsc that is higher/lower than our standard fsc. Good luck telling a large customer that they have to use "your" fsc.

I think you’re gonna have to change your username.
