When I was in the parasail business I used to make Hobo dinners on the diesel.

Customers got a kick out of it when I would ask them to lift their feet so I could open up the engine bay and they see this foil wrapped thing that I open up and start chowing down on.

I've done it. Most recently, in my personal, I really wanted a donut heated up since it was cold and hard. I had the donut but not the coffee. Long line at Starbucks so I got out and popped the hood and sat the donut on my engine. By the time I got through the line I had a nice warm, soft donut.

    This is livin'........

    This might do it...
And if you run the north east this time of year your food will be perfectly salted for you when it’s done.

I've got an older chefman brand one from ollies. I can't find it available anymore but it's a 650W I believe. My 1000W inverter works fine with it.
10 minutes to make rice or make a dehydrated soup. Half hour or so for stuff with meat.
Get one that has a sauteed button so you can cook up some onions and celery or garlic or whatever before you throw the main ingredients in

    86scotty Thanks this.

    10 minutes to make rice?
Even on a stove top rice takes 20 minutes on simmer after the water is boiling.

Not in the instapots. The rice and water or broth goes in and you turn the cover to lock it. It acts like a pressure cooker. When I make 3/4 cup dry white rice I set the cooker for 6 minutes. Once the water is at a boil (maybe 3 to 5 minutes?) the machine senses the steam build up and starts the time count down. Actually at that point you could probably even turn off the generator or inverter because it's so pressurized and insulated it keeps cooking.
Once the timer hits the 7 minute mark it beeps and switches to keep warm.
Brown rice I set for 20 minutes.

    86scotty and Moosetek13 Thank this.

The microwave doodads itself if 110 dollar's from Walmart. It runs perfectly fine on the 1500w inverter in the company truck I drive if I'm remembering right the peak draw on this machine is 1358w. We've got probably 15 drivers here that all use this microwave every single one of recommend it and none of them have a problem with it. So I'd still recommend it. Im not sure how long it will last to see how often you'd have to replace it but it is commonly available at Walmart.
