Wet heavy snow packed down and refrozen, not at all level. Rutted. I was there Thursday, and it is probably not any better. Both of the lots at Davenport have some slope.

The tires are making a big difference, imo.

Not easily. Reason #532 why auto transmissions suck.

You probably dug yourself in. Next time when on ice or packed snow don’t let the tires spin too much. Go back abit and then go forward try to rock the truck once the truck gets moving DON’T STOP. If the tires start spinning and your slowing down let off the throttle.

Probably the warm tires melted an inch or so down into the ice.If you can't spin the chains onto yhe tires, try this: ( With power diverted engaged)Lay chains flat on ground in front of tires ( attempt to jam them with a tire iron ,close as you can inder front of tires). Next, pop tractor brake ,then quickly put it in gear, turn steering a little left and right. IF.. Everything goes right, you'll rock a little...Just Enough to spin chains under drives .I've had luck trying to get out of icy docks with this.Just what I've done

I swear my setback axle forward slung 200 gallon fuel tanks Western Star could get stuck on a snowflake when bobtailing with the tanks full.

This is why I always carried a bottle of 151 on board.

In a pinch as this I can christen the drives and the ground under them and throw a match and Flambé my way out

Plus I would just Look Cool.

I used to drop the bags to get traction but don’t understand the theory of why it works.

Is it because of the weight redistribution from the front axle.

That goes along with what I've noticed. Basically ,when you lower the nose of the trailer it puts about 600lbs or so of nose weight/force down on the drives. What I always heard anyway.

    Rideandrepair and tommymonza Thank this.
